Halloween is on its way! Here are some tips to protect your spooktacular smile.
The American Association of Orthodontists has offered five timely tips to protect braces, aligners and other orthodontic appliances during this "sweet" season.
- Avoid sticky, crunchy or chewy candy and snacks and never chew ice.
- Brush up! After consuming any sweet treat or beverage be sure to brush and floss to prevent possible cavities.
- Good alternatives include soft chocolates, peanut butter cups, ice cream or other melt-in-your-mouth varieties.
- The American Association of Orthodontists even offers orthodontic-friendly recipes for Halloween HERE.
- Make a commitment to your smile. The success of limiting breakage during this month will help finish your treatment on time. Your rate of success depends on these tips.
All of us at Price Family Ortho wish you a happy and safe Halloween!

October has many great qualities (hello Fall!) -- and here's another on the list: It's National Orthodontic Health Month! Here are some fun facts about Orthodontia, that you may or may not have known...
Your dentist may recommend orthodontia care if your bite is abnormal, but you don’t need a referral from a dentist to see an orthodontist.
The preferred starting age for orthodontics is between the ages of 8 and 14. Preferred isn't always possible though, so here at Price Family Ortho we see patients of all ages.
Over 4 million Americans are currently wearing braces. We can thank NASA for the evolution of modern braces. NASA developed a nickel titanium that is used in the space program; but in orthodontics it is used for flexible wires that are activated by body heat and maintain their shape.
The history of Orthodontia, also known as Orthodontics, has been around for more than 2000 years. The "Father of Dentistry", Pierre Fauchard designed the first official braces in 1728. Orthodontic appliances have been tracked back to ancient Egypt. While entering the 20th century dentist Edward Angle introduced more advanced and modern orthodontic appliances such as brackets.
A healthy bite is one that properly meets the opposing jaw to aid with biting, chewing and speaking. 30% of the population can benefit from orthodontic treatment to treat malocclusions. Malocclusion is the misalignment of teeth and is not a disease.
75% of Americans that are in orthodontic care are under the age of 18. But braces are becoming more common for adults.
Join us this month in celebrating how Orthodontics has been a blessing to you or someone you know!

This summer we set out to share the smile love and give 100 new patients a complimentary exam. With your help we were able to exceed our goal and see 120 new patients (June - August)! We called it our "Summer of Smiles". Every one of those new patients was referred by someone, and they wrote that person's name on a happy "smile" ball. Yesterday we drew a name to win FOUR Imagine Dragons concert tickets...and, drum roll please...
Janette Mason was our winner!!
She referred her family member, Garrett. Congrats guys. We hope you have a great time at the concert in October.
We'd like to thank all of you for continuing to refer your family and friends to us. Our goal is to help as many people as possible be happy and confident in their smile. Stay tuned for our next contest coming soon.
